This was made for my friend April, lead singer/guitarist for Auditory Armory [link]

She requested no actual animal parts, so this baby is completely vegan! I don't usually do that, except for friends. Sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth, especially if they want it to LOOK like animal parts, but not actually be real.

Anyway, the whole thing is built on a store bought headband. I scultped the horns from paper mache/paperclay and painted sort of a black/gold marbled texture. The fabric was already dyed and distressed, I just roughed it up a little :)

I also added a few vintage keys, some Turkish buttons, and the coins on the front are from a thrifted bracelet. There are also seachell pieces and a few rivets on the back.

I absolutely love this thing. The muted blue-grey color, mixed with the antiqued finish of the keys and buttons give this thing and old, rustic feel that I adore, and hey! No leather :D See how versatile I am?

I've been silently stalking your gallery for a while before I finally decided to watch, and this is another example of why I'm so happy I did. The color scheme on this is quite fantastic- I love that the horns and the fabric look like they belong together and blend well. The details of each of the coins and pieces are thoughtfully placed and give it a very mysterious look. This is a lovely piece and you did an absolutely amazing job on it!

Thank you so much!! This comment really made my day ^^ I was nervous about the horns since I would normally use real ones, and I wasn't sure how sculpted horns would look with the distressed materials.

I really liked the coloration of the horns because they're deceptive. At first, it'd be easy to dismiss them as just black animal horns- they have an almost antelope/oryx sort of look to them. They have the shape of real horns, but it's that marbled gold color you snuck into them that really makes the transition into the distressed material look really cool to me- it definitely has an otherworldly quality, but its subtle, and that's why I like it. xD

If you don't mind me asking,I saw you have them anchored onto a headband, so I'm assuming it's a rigid headband. Did you build the horns right onto the headband or did you make them/attach them separately?
